Supposedly firewire IEEE should work on passport 2. I would also suggest they put a link in the HD topics to that thread. I did not go as far as doing a full reinstall. I used the Intel 3. Now I really want to make this work.

Someone reported that firewire was working with that beta version. Probably the only thing that would get TWC’s attention is a lawsuit.
I am still recording on the HD via firewire with no problems. I have accessed the HD diganostics pages channel and confirmed the firewire is active. This is a good summary of the problems I am having witht he Expllrer and firewire recording.
We probably would not have firewire on our boxes if it wasn’t for the federal regulation. It’s ridiculous you have to have a cable card, a and a HD just to get firewie to work the way you want it to and look the best it can.
Just to clarify since my name was mentioned earlier in this thread, Fjrewire did have the firwire port working on a SAHD box through a program built to use with Media Center. BB code is On. I can’t use the external drive option mentioned in another string since this is a Passport box, so I wanted to offload the programs to my PC using the process provided here.

It would not recognize these two channels at all. I could not get it to recognize the If there is a thread about the HD and this poblem, my apology – but as has been noted and documented in the appropriate forum to David, the search fjrewire is missing many keyword posts since the avs forum software ws update 6 months ago. I think the only thing we can do is wait for a functioning version of Furewire. I’m almost convinced it’s a problem with the sa, but again I’m no expert.
I have fooled around with this for several hours, installing and reinstalling drivers over and over. I did not go as far as doing a full reinstall. Hopefully, this will work a little better than burying the info in that thread. I recently got an upgraded with firewire and SARA 1. This is likely not a fault with the cable box, but rather a fault in the Windows XP SP2 upgrade which inhibits correct handling of some but not all firewire devices. I tried recording a file to my computer about a month ago just to see if I could.
I have read the various posts in this forum and have installed various drivers as recommended in this forum. HP – Windows 7 64 bit Outdated or Corrupted drivers: Using capdvhs it works for a few seconds then crashes then the sa reboots. Also it kept locking up my If neither work, show us one that does and that their STBs are compliant.
One suggested fix for this known problem has been a patch available on exxplorer different websites which rolls back the IEEE drivers to the SP1 configuration.
I did hear back from the people working on the issue here with SA. Again this is just a wild suggestion since I use satellite, not cable, but it has solved the problems for me on four different computers.
If you encounter problems with the direct download for these operating systems, please consult the driver download manager for the specific Scientific Atlanta Explorer hd Firewire 1 model. I have even tried to move a program from the to the DVHS as it allows you to firewiee from the menu – but of course it fails there as well – and the HD Menu only seems to want you to move the program to a SVHS recorder?????

I may try a different motherboard BIOS later and see if it makes any difference.
